Engineering Adventures® (Grades 3-5) Hands-on challenges anytime, anywhere Get kids thinking like engineers —in school, after school, summer school and camps. Meaningful, real-world, open-ended challenges engage students in engineering activities that build confidence. Flexible Engineering Adventures units show learners that they can apply their knowledge of science and math to engineer technologies with a global impact. Students learn to solve problems as they explore the role engineering plays in their lives and the world around them. With Engineering Adventures, students build 21st century skills as they collaborate, work in teams, and develop solutions to the hands-on challenges together. Students practice presentation skills as they share their findings in an Engineering Showcase. Explore the Units Download Sample Go Virtual with STEM. Get your students ready for the future with virtual learning supported by creative hands-on challenges that promote STEM thinking. Help learners work through problems in a brand new way. A 5-step Engineering Design Process guides learning and helps students think like engineers. Create college and career ready learners, starting young. Foster skills that help students thrive. Show them that they can bounce back from failure, lead group presentations, work in a team, and more! Creating earthquake-proof buildings. Developing gear for NASA astronauts. Amplifying sound at a music festival. Each real-world challenge is designed to engage and excite young learners and show them what real engineers do. Image "The human impact is in every [EiE unit], and that's the part that gets the kids excited. And I also think it empowers them. Because we live in a really scary world, and it's going to be scary for them no matter what. But if there are ways that they can make connections that are global, that they can solve these problems, then they begin to realize that they do have control. And it makes scary things a lot less scary." Explore free STEM resources including three of EiE’s Engineering Adventures units made possible through a generous project grant from NASA. In Good Hands: Engineering Space Gloves Kids work as materials engineers, considering the trade-offs of each material in their space gloves to help astronauts complete one of three missions to an asteroid, Earth’s moon, or Mars. Liftoff: Engineering Rockets and Rovers Kids will engineer rockets and rovers to help India and Jacob explore several planets and moons in our solar system. The Sky’s the Limit: Engineering Flying Technologies Kids will learn that scientists and engineers often study harsh environments here on Earth (like the largest sand desert in the world, the Empty Quarter) to understand the environments they might encounter in space.
